How many of us may have been enchanted by the image of the open sea and a boat sailing into the wind? Surely we are many. This blog, is a personal record of the travel experiences with our sailboat Filizi .
The adventures with Filizi began in 2006 and at first we kept a ship’s logbook and a personal diary.
In May 2011 we realized a life-long dream, exchanging our land house for our beloved home at sea. With our houseboat, we traveled the Greek seas, the Aegean, the Ionian and further beyond, to Malta, Sicily and the Aeolian islands in Italy.
In August 2014, we sailed from Athens, Greece, to cross the Atlantic Ocean, joining the Atlantic Rally for Cruiseers ARC+. From the start we felt the need to keep a more detailed record of our progress and share our beautiful experiences. The passage from Greece, through the Mediterranean, across the Atlantic Ocean to the Americas in 2014, was described in the category “Filizi Voyage: from the Aegean to the Caribbean”. Some parts of the log were published in the Greek yachting magazine Istioploikos Cosmos (Sailing World).
In 2016, after two seasons in the Caribbean islands, it was time for us to move on to the Pacific Ocean. We refit Filizi in Martinique, Saint Martin, and Gouadeloupe. In January 2017 we sailed from Saint Barts to Santa Marta, Colombia and later to the beautiful islands of Guna Yala (San Blas) in Panama.
In May 2017 we cross the Panama Canal from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and sail to the Galapagos islands, the Marquesas and the other islands of the French Polynesia.
Our plan is to make the circumnavigation of the Earth but, we want to do it slowly, giving ouselves the chance to get to know the places and the people where we visit.
